Remember its all up for grabs

...I  knew I was in California when someone on the street stopped me and said (I kid you not) "How are you doing today? Got a moment to save the world?"...

...Young ladies wore tomatoes on their heads both to remind us of the living wages procured for taco bell tomato pickers and the need to win similar victories...

...Committees completed their task some working deep into the night.  There was a flurry of motions and flaring tempers as opportunities for amendments came and went.  Strategy clutches popped up everywhere as commissioners and advocates saw their chances were waning to influence and shape what will come before the GA plenary....

...Our very own Merdith Byram showed her parliamentary dexterity signing onto a minority report to be presented in the plenary concerning the "Social Creed." Among other things she was concerned with the confusion the title might cause since it is not being proposed as an official part of our Confessions....

...Among many other issues Peacemaking heard gut wrenching stories about atrocities in Zimbabwe and the need for relief ...

...The next phase of GA begins tomorrow as all the committee work moves into the plenary.  Despite the perfecting of certain overtures it can all change in a moment. So remember its all up for grabs...

Today I saw Pierce Buford while she was promoting Living Waters For the World at their booth.  Ms. Buford is a former Foundation employee who used to work from our Presbytery office.  She attends Chapel in the Pines but itinerates seemingly everywhere as an ambassador for our Synod's award winning mission project.

Rev. Greg Bentley pastor of Brown Memorial and president of the National Black Presbyterian Caucus discussed church growth strategy which came before committee today and will be brought before the assembly.  Bentley said "We are really having to do triage with churches as to whether they have enough health.  We are focusing on five areas and hope to move to growth and vitality soon."
